I filled up the tank of my car today, drove for like 40 minutes and while at the traffic lights it made a beep sound and I noticed my fuel light was on. I managed to drive home lucky I was close but the light is still on.

Good morning,

On the fuel pump assembly is a low fuel warning sensor. When the fuel level is too low, it will send a signal for the light to come on.

The sensor is part of the assembly and cannot be replaced by itself. You will need to replace the entire fuel pump assembly.

Does the fuel gauge indicate a full tank?

Sometimes the fuel sending unit card gets gummed up with residue, especially if the vehicle rarely gets a full tank of fuel or is not driven frequently enough. This residue will affect the sending unit sweep as it tries to make contact with this portion of the sweep. We had a service bulletin years ago that had us pour in a can of techron or equivalent injector cleaner into the tank and have the owner drive it around. Maybe one out of ten vehicles would actually need a replacement sending unit. One of the bad ones is demonstrated in this video that I recorded.
