I was wondering on this truck does the right carrier shaft (passenger side) on the front axle come out just like the left side? I just used a dead blow hammer and tapped out the left one but the right is being a little tough. I got the axle assembly on the tailgate so its easy to get to and was wondering if it is okay to bolt a slide hammer to the axle to pull out or is that not recommended or do I have to take the five bolts that hold the axle tube on? I am replacing the axle seals by the way.

Hey JASON,

I don't think a slide hammer is the way you get those out. I believe there is an internal C clip that allows the shaft to be removed, here is a guide and video to help you get the axle out, and the carrier shaft out.
