I own a 1987 Ford Range Pickup, I recently had a fly wheel and a new clutch put in, since that time when the weather is cold the truck will not start, but if it gets to 50 degrees it starts, but then it starts to make knocking noises. I also had a oil change and replaced the spark plugs and put on a new starter, can someone please tell me what the problem is. When I first got the turck it had 18,000 original miles, now it has 65,000.
Do you
have the same problem?

Your truck is just broke in. :)
When you say won't start what do you mean.
Cranks and won't start.
Won't crank at all.

This 1987 Ranger pickup, it will crank, but will not turn over. I try and try to the point that it almost runs down my battery, but it will not turn over when it is cold out side. This problem started when I had the flywheel and the clutch replaced. Last year I didnot have a problem when the winter came, it started right up. What do you think is the problem, and can it be fixed or should I just get rid of the truck
and not spend another dime fixing it.

Kind of a personal decision. How many miles? How much is new in the way of parts already?

Here is alink on what to check for. Start with spark at the plugs.

IF IT CRANKS AND DOESN'T TURN THE MOTOR THATS ONE THING BUT IF THE ENGINE TURNS OVER AND DOESN'T START REMOVE THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE AND HAVE THAT TESTED FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE FIX IF THATS THE PROBLEM BEING A 1987 I SUSPECT THAT'S YOU PROBLEM.
YOU CAN CHECK SPARK TO NUMBER ONE CYLINDER TOO

This is about that Ford Ranger Pickup that would not start. Well today it was warm enough that the truck started but now it is making a loud tapping noise, it does'nt sound like it is comming from the engine, it sounds like it is coming from the back between the moter and the transmission, now remember this is a manuel and the flywheel and clutch was replaced, so now what do I do. Or what do you think it might be.
