Heater problem
2003 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Automatic 130, 00 miles

Hi. I have a dual-climate control vehicle. The front vents blow cold air all the time, even when set to heat. The back blows right. Any ideas?

Listen carefully when moving temp selector in front from cold to hot. If you hear a clicking sound then it is the blend door actuator. They have plastic gears which commonly strip. Pull the radio out using a pair of radio removal tools. The white module seen through the radio opening is the blend door actuator. It is held on with three screws. Pull it from the heater housing, check to see if the shaft turns slowly when you move the selector. If so try it while holding the shaft loosely, putting a little drag on it. It is most likely the problem, they are quite prone to failure. They are available from many auto parts suppliers.
