2003 Ford Windstar Lift gate ajar light

How do I replace the alarm switch for the lift gate? I have taken the inner panel off of the door, and I can see the switches in the latch brackets, but do I have to remove the latches to get the switch out? Thanks.

LIFTGATE LATCH Removal and Installation 1. Remove the liftgate door trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION . 2. Remove the liftgate latch screws. Fig. 46: Identifying Loosening Torque Of Liftgate Latch Screws Courtesy of FORD MOTOR CO. 3. Position the liftgate latch aside. 4. Disconnect the electrical connector. Fig. 47: Disconnecting Electrical Connector Courtesy of FORD MOTOR CO. 5. Disconnect the liftgate latch actuating cable. 1. Release the cable conduit. 2. Disconnect the cable.
