I have a 2001 ford windstar lx and trying to replace the window reg/motor but cannot get the glass out of the regulator rail. Looks like it is pop rivited into place. What do I need to do? Any help would be appreciated. Chuck

Ok so are you replacing the entire regulator and motor for the window or just the window motor? It does appear that you will have to remove the rivits and then replace them with either the ones supplied or buy new ones.

It apears that there is not enough room to get a grinder or drill to remove the rivits? Is a special tool needed? Your recommendations on how to get them out would be apprciated. If ford dealers can get them out there has to be a way to do it. I hope to find out the correct way if posiable.

It is easier to drill them and make sure you have a way to prop the window so it don't fall to the bottom. Now when you drill them just get them thin enough to pry the head of the rivit off. As far as tools only a rivit gun to replace the rivit.
