2000 Ford Windstar engine knocking

I just bought this minivan2 days ago, it is in great shape like it was well taken care of but now I have noticed apretty distinct knocking in the engine, it sounds like it is coming fom under the back (engine is sideways) valve cover. It almost sounds like it is knocking right on the valve cover but it is hard to tell because the air intake sits on top of it. Does any one know what this might be. Thank you.

Hi:
If it's in the valve cover, it has to deal with a lifter, rocker or rocker tower. The only way to be sure is to remove the cover. Also, is the van still running good?

Yes it is still running good. Thank you for your advice I will remove the valve cover this weekend
