Heater problem
1999 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My air blend door is damaged, cracked where the actuator engages, door will not operate, cold air only.
I've got everything loose but there seems to be not enough room to pull the box down and out. Does the whole dash have to come out?

You shouldn't have to pull the dash completely out but you will have to loosen the bottom supports so you can pull it out a ways. It's a tight squeeze. At the factory they install the heater box before the dash goes on.

Do you have any suggestions on how to prop open/bend, whatever the door to keep it open? Our door does not stay open - everything else works fine. Last year the mechanic propped it open, said they couldn't get it to stay this year? I am just trying to find a way to get heat to make it through the winter. Thanks!

If you manually open the to the heat position, you may be able to run a screw through the side of the heater box and hold the damper open.
