Engine Mechanical problem
1978 Ford Thunderbird V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have written about my poor car before but it is still sitting. It will turn over but something is keeping it from firing. My nephew replaced the ignition coil and the ignition module but nothing. I am on social security so money is an issue and am getting pretty frustrated. My nephew isn't sure what direction to go next. Fords are not his thing. Someone suggested the voltage regulator but I don't think that has anything to do with it not firing. We also got a suggestion to replace the distributor. Can anyone please help me solve this problem?

Make sure your getting fuel to the carburetor. Have someone turn it and look into the carb and see if theres gas squirting into carb. If not you might need a fuel pump. Also I believe you car comes with points on the distributer check the points to make sure they r not burned out quite possible thats your problem to other than fuel related. Also check the fuel filter might be clogged.

Thank you for your reply. We have checked the fuel system and it is okay. The plugs are not sparking so problem lies there somewhere. Distributor was our next thought. We are pure amateurs, an old lady and a thoughtful kid learning his way.
