My 2004 Ford Taurus, has a factory car alarm. I have noticed that when the outside air tempature goes below 40 degrees, the alarm will go off. I have to go outside turn the alarm off. It maybe another 30 or 45 minutes then it goes off again. What could be causing the problem. Is their away to turn the alarm system off completely? I know my neighbors are getting upset that my alarm keeps going off:(

Hello,

9 times out of 10 it is the drivers door door latch which needs to be replaced because the switch inside malfunctions causing the alarm to go off. You will need to remove the door panel to get to the latch to change it. Here is a guide that will give you an idea of what yo are in for when doing the job.

Here is a diagrams to help you see what you are in for when changing the latch.

My car alarm randomly goes off in the middle of the night. It only seems to happen when the temp outside drops.
Any suggestions?

I've owned this black colored LX wagon since new and take immaculate care of it. Other than a rebuilt Tranny at 103k and a rebuild of rusted out rocker panels last year, the car looks and operates almost brand new.
My question is this:
When locked, the alarm system will sound the horn without provocation at any time. I've tested this at my house and am sure of it. I've queried my mechanic and he has no answer for it. Now I cant lock the car unless I diisconnect the horn and am fearful of a non-break in. Please help!

PS: The doors and hatch close correctly and the automatic door locks work as well.

Hi
To solve you will need the Dealer to hook up scanner that can check system components to find fault. Your system is self diagnostic and will store fault codes in alarm computer.
Hope this helps

Remote car starters are ALL aftermarket products no matter who installs them, you would need the make and model info of the remote start unit to dignose it, or take it back to the installer.
