95 Ford Taurus won't crank/turn over

Hello, this is a 95 Taurus GL 3.0 with 165,000 miles. I just bought it and had my son do a tune and oil change. He changed oil, spark plugs, wires, pcv valve, dstributor cap and rotor. He drove it a couple of times and it seemed fine. Then he went to start it up and it wouldn't turn over. Lights, radiio, etc. Is working. It makes a humming noise (inside the car) when you turn the key, but under the hood, we don't hear anything. We tried to jump it off, but nothing. The battery looks like it's never been changed (like the spark plugs and oil looked, before we changed them). We haven't changed it out yet, and we also thought it might be the solenoid, but we can't find it. Any idea what it could be and/or where the solenoid is llocated?

This for someone with the same problem I had, free of charge. I sincerely like to help.

My 95 Taurus wouldn't crank or turn over. We thought it might be the solenoid, but we couldn't find it. It wasn't on the fender. Lights and radio would work, but we couldn't jump it off.

For those needing to know, we found the solenoid on the starter. However, the problem was on the negative battery terminal connection. We took it off and cleaned it, put it back on and car cranked right up.

Best of luck to anyone looking for help at this message board.
