Coming off the freeway of a 40 mile trip, the car started sputtering, then died. There was a lot of steam coming from under the hood. I pushed the vehicle off to the side, lifted the hood, and saw the coolant reservoir tank leaking coolant and steam. I had the car towed to a mechanic working from his home. He said there was a crack in the reservoir tank, and the check engine light revealed there was a problem with cylinder 5. He told me to buy a new coil block, but the car still sputtered at idle. He then did a compression test, which was low on cylinder 5.

Given the coolant issue occurring at the same time as the cylinder issue, what do you think is likely the problem with the cylinder? Any recommended repair facilities near 95758?

Thanks, razmataz.

I will call my local dealership to get a cost on a cylinder leakage test.
