We bought the car 2 yrs. Ago with only 19000 mi. On it and in the last 6mos. It has logged a code for the EGR valve flow was to little or slow. I removed the EGR valve and checked it with a vacumn gauge and seems to work OK and holds open with no leakage. Cleaned and reinstalled and cleared the code but it came back within a few miles, could the elec. Control that supplies the vacumn to the EGR be the problem. The daughter checked the mileage and it still averages 20mpg.

Code is P0401? Remove the EGR. Clear out the port inside all the way to the throttle plate. I use a steel coathanger. Get the light turned off, Drive it if light comes on again, replace the EGR Position sensor!
