It sounds like the crank position sensor might be faulty.
A faulty crank sensor will stop spark to the plugs.
Typically engine heat and vibration can make the crank sensor go bad overtime also the wires can corrode and give faulty signals. Which will make the engine stall.
Sometimes this will trigger the check engine light, other times it will not.

This stall can also caused by a faulty coolant temperature sensor. Which can produce incorrect signal and the engine will not start.
