My Ford Taurus will start up just fine and then for some reason it won't turn over after a couple of hours after driven. It doesn't get hot or smeel of fuel. Then it will start up again and can be driven just fine. There is plenty of cranking power, but it sounds like there is no fuel getting to the motor. It's a used car that I just purchased over the summer. I have no idea the last time it had a tune up or fuel filter placed on the car. Sometimes the engine seems to ride rough.

My wife started the car on sunday and it drove just fine to the store and then when she came out 2 hours later it wouldn't start. I then went back after a couple of hours after that and it stated with no issues.

Has anyone told you, you may need a fuel pump, if your not getting fuel to engine it wont start. I'm not a mechinac, but have issues with our car and we are learning different things. Hope you figure out what the probelm is.

Next time when it refuses to start don't wait for nothing do below to determine if its a fuel or spark related problem and get back with some testing results so that I can continue to assist with this intermittent no start condition

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor /distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, ECM, Ignitor camshaft and crankshaft sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
