176,000 Miles. Pulling in to fuel noticed transmission leak behind and under the car. Checked fluid it was low and leaking bad when running. A Stream behind and under the car. Drove it 1/8 mile added 2 qt fluid. Drove 8 miles checked again very little leak. Add 1 qt transmission fluid and that filled it. Hasn't leaked any more.

What caused it and what do I need to do about i

Hi there,

With any coolant leak, you first need to get the system pressure tested, this will help locate the leak, and don't forget to get the pressure cap tested as well, start here.

Thanks but this was a transmission fluid leak not the cooling system.

I am sorry for not being more clear. I had marked transmission problem.

Hi there,

Sorry was late at night and I missed that, with transmission leaks, there are a few pl;aced that will be suspect, Drive shaft seals, where the front shafts fit into the transmission, pan gasket, oil cooler lines, these are the more common places to leak, check these first.
