I have a 97 Taurus GL I have had only a few problems with the car but my question was how often should I replace the fuel injectors or are they only replaced on a need to basis as in when they go bad, are they supposed to last the life of the car? And what can I do to service them? And will that help improve efficiency of the vehicle? Any information would be helpful thank you.

Fuel injectors may last the life of the vehicle and may not, hard to tell how long they last and will go out.

You could try cleaning them and see if it solves the problem. Take it in to a shop and have them cleaned on their machine.
