I have a 1997 Ford Taurus with 154,000 miles on it. When ever my car is on and in park my radio or tape player works fine. But when I put it in gear weather it be reverse, neutral, drive or whatever it stops. The radio station or tape indicator still is on it just doesn't play anything. What is wrong??

Have someone check out the mlps switch, or as it's commonly called, neutral safety switch. As weord as it sounds, when these fail, it ca affect what you're experiencing, I don't believe they're overly hard to replace, possibly requiring a special tool to line up a couple of slots, it sits on top of the trans, linkage and an electrical connector are hooked to it.
