ABS light is on, system is not working properly but brakes are fine, just like before abs was invented. Don'twant tospend any more on this old car. How can I turn the abs light off? Pulling the two fuses doesn't turn light off. Can I unplug the abs unit and where is the cable? Taurus LX 3.0 engine.

You can remove the bulb. But a quick check can be made to see if you can properly restore function. Verify that the abs wheel speed sensors are attatched, fluid level is good and that the tone ring and wheel speed sensor is properly gapped and not built up with dirt and metal particles

How do you remove the bulb? Doesn't seem like any easy way to get to the bulb. I'll look at the things you mentioned but not sure I can perform those checks. He car has 195000 miles on it, don't want to spend any more money on it. Again, can a cable e unplugged that will turn off the light easier than removing the bulb?

Nope. Abs wires being disconnected will cause abs light to go on not off. You have to take out the instrument cluster to get the bulb out.
