I have a 2000 ranger with 107,000 mi. On her and over the past few months I have noticed a decrease in gas pedal response. The acceleration is very very sluggish. I replaced the plugs and wires last year, along with the fuel filter. Is there anything that needs serviced regularly that could cause this to happen? Please let me know if you have an idea.

Inspect and test all the following listed below:

Oxygen sensor
Catalytic converter
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)
Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Cap and rotor

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.

Thank you for the answer, I had a vaccum issue with the EGR sensor I guess. The hoses coming off of the pressure sensor were both cracked.
