took to the mechnic do to the squealing. He replaced the serpatine belt. Two weeks later the altanater went out so we replaced it. At that time we found the belt was to tight. Went back to the shop and they replaced it withone about 1/2inch longer. He checked the pulleies ect reccemended replaceing possiblly replacing iddle&tension pullies if started to squeal again. It started to squeal again so we replaced them.A couple of days later it started again So we took it to a different shop in which we were handed a can of sillicone and was told to spray the belt with it. Please tell me that is wrong.

Look at the alignment of the belt especially at the tensioner. IF it is slightly out of align it will make noise.
I have one of these and sound times it makes noise. I'm more suspect of poor engineering. Was the whole tensioner replaced or just the pulley on it. IF it was just the pulley, then I would suspect a weak tensioner.

I wouldn't spray silicone on the belt except to test it to see if the noise stops when you shoot it. Better off using valve grinding compound on it.

What brand of belt? Economy belts are usually a problem.
