1999 Ford Ranger Ignition coil

No spark from no. 2 tower. Replaced plug and wire. All others spark. Could this be the coil or something before the coil? Only trouble code is P03002.

Most likely the coil pack is faulty. Test for spark at the coils and post results. I will follow up.

There are no coils on the plugs. Just a black box on top of the engine where the distributor cap should be. I assumed this was the coil.
I checked no.2 plug wire and found it was open. I used an inductive timing light ( Iv'e had it in my shed for about twenty years. Knew I'd get to use it again.) To check for spark on the plug wires and they all fired but no. 2.

You may want to check compression in that cylinder but most likely it is a faulty ignition coil.
