I have a 1996 ford ranger XLT and am trying to get it to pass smog. I have a OBD II computer and the code P1143 comes up, this is the Evaporative Emission Control System. We have changed the silenoid, which was not working before, and it is now fixed. But the code still reads the same. How can I get this problem solved so it can pass smog?

Can you recheck that code? No such code for Ford. They run to 1142 then skip to 1150.

Ok it is the evap system, the way leaks are found in this sytem is with a smoke test, they hook up you system to a low pressure machine that pumps smoke in, where the smoke comes out, is were the leak is!
Ford and maybe a real good shop.
