1994 Ford Ranger broken fuel gauge

I got the truck a few months ago and the fuel gauge hasn't worked. What are the possible problems? And what can I do to fix it? All of the other gauges work fine

I had (have again) same problem
i think your floater stuck in the gas tank
in my 1995 ford ranger thats what happended 2 times already and 1st time I drained all the gas out took the gas tank out and took the floater stuff inside the gas tank and putted back
so yea its pain in the ass doing it but if you go to meachanic theyll charge you like 300$ +
the only stuff I reccomend just learn how big your gas tank and how many miles a gallon you get and just follow the miles
thats what I do
but if you got spare money or lots of time
have fun removing the gas tank
