How does one relieve the fuel line pressure on this vehicle prior to replacing the filter?

Thank you,
John

Well, you could relieve the pressure from your fuel rail. There is a black capped valve (looks similar to tire valve) make sure the key is off, than press in till pressure is relieved. You will get fuel all over your engine. Me, I would just grab a pan and slowly pull the line from the filter. It will only spray for a second or two. As long as the key is off.

There's an easy way to do it:
turn your car on and unplug the fuel pump relay.
Your car will keep running for a few seconds then will die. Try to start it a few more times (with the relay still removed) to make sure you get rid of any pressure left, and you're good to go.

After you're done replacing the filter, and with the relay back on there, turn your key to 'on' a few times to rebuild pressure.

Thank you for your response and these great steps, though I haven't taken them yet, I can see this will work well.

No problem,

replacing the fuel filter is very easy on this car and it won't take you more than 5 minutes.
