'89 Grand Marquis - 91,000 Miles - power window problem

Alright, a bit of history for you.

This car was my dads, right before he died. He got all drunk and backed into a pole at a gas station, with the door open. Drivers side door hit the pole and bent forward. So the door doesnt open all the way. (Which is not important, its getting replaced)

Anyways, the windows dont work at all. On the drivers door, when you try to roll down the drivers side window, the motor clicks, lights dim, and if you keep hitting the switch, I think the circuit breaker in the fuse panel pops for a second, cause the switch will stop responding briefly. However, none of the other doors even make a noise at all. No matter where you press the window button from. (Drivers door, passenger door, back doors.)

Now, the power locks and power mirrors work. All the lights work everywhere. Radio doesnt work, nor the washer fluid pump, but im pretty sure they arent related. I havent even pulled the radio yet, nor looked at the washer pump.

I already tested all fuses/fusable links, everything. Everything is in working condition. Everything gets power. I looked down at the harnesses, all the wires are fine. (Even though the door was yanked outward by backing into that little pole.)

I got a service manual, and it mentions briefly in a wiring diagram that the fuse and circuit breaker in the fuse panel lead to a "safety window relay". Think that thing is messed up? Anyone know if thats the case? Or what it looks like? Or where it is? I oughta just bypass the thing, if I could even find it.

Please god tell me that someone here knows more about this than I do!

I hope I can be of some help, or maybe an expert will happen to look at my response and tell us if I'm right or wrong. I have an '85 Grand Marq and my driver's window won't let down. I had my fuse checked and it checked out great. One thing though is that, like mine, your motor may have gone out already. If you hear the clicks and lights dim and all of that and your fuse check out properly, the only thing left is your motor. And because your motor is out, everytime you press the button (being that it's NOT going to work) that may be draining your fuse(s) and lights. Try replacing the motor to your power windows and see what happens. Sound o.K?
