Engine Performance problem
1984 Other Ford Models 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Goodmorning Guys, thanks for the website!
I have done a compression test on my P100 ute(cortina 3.0 V6 ute), cylinders (4;5 &6) are low.
Can it be the Valves that need replacing?
I am keen on doing it myself, I have the tools to do so, what should I purchase? I just want to patch the head up and sell the van. Please assist.

Hi there,

You should first do a leak down test or a wet and dry comp test to prove that the valves are in fact the problem do this first and report the readings, a wet test is with a small amount of oil in the cylinder this will seal the rings and if comps are low the valves are faulty, do this after recording the comps dry and compare, the leak down will show which valve is faulty.
