I have a 98 Mustang that just suddenly appeared with a check engine light and a fan on at the same time. I dont think that it has anything to do with it, but also the steering wheel seems to be a bit sloppier than usual as well. Could be my imagination though. The main issue is that these lights are both on, but the car is not running strangly, does not sound like it is running differently, and has no trouble starting. What should I be looking for here? I just bought the car about 6 months ago, have only driven about 4,000 miles in it, and have not done any maintenence except the oil and air filter. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Can you point the fan on your gauge cluster?

With the check engine light on, you may wish to go to your local Autozone, and have them scan your computer, and post the code numbers.

the fan light is number 11 and it is accompanied by the check engine light. they both go off randomly, but are on together most of the time. again, no apparant change in the actual running condition of the vehicle.

#11 is for the seat belt system. We will know much more when you get the check engine light scanned. Go to your local Autozone, and have them scan the computer. They will do this service for free. Please post the code numbers here.
