I have an '83 mustang that turns over and starts fine. It idles a little high when in park and neutral, but when I put it into gear it wants to die every time it is at a complete stop. If you are into the gas it runs fine while in gear.

Look for a vacuum leak. Sometime carb cleaner sprayed on suspicious areas can affect the idle and flush out the leak.

Thanks It worked, but now I have another problem, everytime I try to turn it over the solenoid just clicks. No response except for that click.

The solenoid connects the battery to the starter when the key is put into the start position.

Be sure the connections are clean and no corrosion present. While someone is holding the key in the crank position, someone else can tap on the starter with a hammer or similiar to jar it. That can flush out a starter going bad.
