2003 Ford Focus Locked steering wheel

I had trouble getting my steering wheel to unlock this morning before work. After work I had no trouble with it unlocking but when I went to the gas station later it would not unlock and I had to be towed. I have never had trouble with it unlocking before. I tried both sets of keys and neither would work. Any ideas?

The locking mechanism could be going bad. When you are trying to unlock the steerring wheel move the wheel back and forth. Sometimes they do catch and the steering wheel needs ro be moved back and forth to unlock it. If the problem persists then the key assembly will have to be taken out and the switch replaced.
