1996 Ford F-250 hmm

Well my question is when I could be going along and it will slow down or sometimes when I stop it will die then I will stop and it will start right back up or sometimes when I let it set for a day or two it will not want to start and I take like five time of me trying to start it then it will and blow out black smoke out of the tailpipe

It sounds like a few problems first of all, have you change the fuel filter? And the next thing you need to do is check the fuel pressure, but I think you may have a bad fuel pressure regulator, it is located at the end of the rail with the vacuum line, disconnect the vacuum line that will give you full pressure and then tell me how it runs
