not so much a repair question but more of how much is this gonna cost question. The oil gauge on the truck was going from low and popping back up to mid full. Then about 4 days later I heard a clicking noise. Turns out there's an oil leak. Somewhere. We went back to the place where we got an oil change a few weeks ago. It's not the cap at the bottom, but they did say it was low on oil and that there's a leak somewhere. We've scheduled to take it in to the dealership 4 days from now. Any ideas on where and how much it will cost to repair it? My husband seems to think that it may cost up to 5k to fix, he's freaking out.I know it could be as simple as a break in hose somewhere or maybe much more serious. Also, is it okay to drive it as long as we keep on adding oil every time we drive it? Thanks.

When did this problem become evident? Any problems before the oil change? I would remove the filter and see if there is an extra gasket left behind during the oil change. Do not drive for any distance till you figure the leak out. Also snug the drain plug up!

Hmm, well he took the truck back this morning and he got a new oil change. This time w/synthetic which makes no sense to me cause it's LEAKING! But anyway, he got the air filter replaced, didn't say anything about the oil filter. This problem just started monday, today is saturday. The gauge thing started going low and popping right back up. Then the clicking noise started friday morning when I started the truck to go to work. Before then I had no problems.
Oh, he called his dad( he works on public transit buses) he told us to check the oil, which we both agreed was low( this was last night before he took it this morning to get an oil change) so he went to buy a quart of oil. We poured it in and a few minutes later, we looked under the truck and sure enough. It was all leaking out, it wasn't even a drip, drip. It was just going.

For it to POUR out almost as fast as you fill it, it should not be hard to see where it's coming from.

True. He did say the guys told him there was a break somewhere. He gets the oil changes at walmart, so maybe the guys really don't know how to tell where the leak is coming from. So about how much do you think it would cost to repair it? Not know where the leak is coming from makes it difficult for you to answer this but can you give me at least a guess from something simple to having to replace the oil system?
