F-150 Pickup 1988 turns over but not starting

My brother in law has a 1988 f150 pickup it is a 5 litre v8 efi with electronic ignition and a 5 speed manual.
He went to work in it today and now yhe engine will turn over but wont start he thinks there is no spark but he has changed the ht leads and now is stumped. Can you help?

What Leads? Do you mean the spark plug wires? If he has spark then he's gotta reconnect the wires to the right plugs. There is a firing order diagram under the hood! The #1 plug wire is found by looking on the distributor cap. Look for the 1! Then he's gotta solve the no start condition. You must know wheather it's no gas or no spark. Then gt back to us.

There is definitely no spark but he did say that recently the engine has been cuttting out. Please excuse ignorance but I no nothing about cars and am relaying any info to brother in law. Grateful for any help

2 parts to consider are the TFI module and the coil,
Also pull the cap off the distributor any see if there is sideplay in the shaft. You don't want any!
