When I shift into 4H its not working it goes straight into 4L, the 4L works whether you have it in 4H or 4L, what could cause that, Thanks Rob

Is this just while the truck is in motion? Or even at rest? I will tell you that the shift motor is often the problem, take it off an try cleaning the contacts, reinstall it, tap it with a small hammer, if 4X4 now works, down the road you will need the shift motor.

The shift motor is on the transfer case, it looks like a window motor. Have someone press the button while you tap it.
