Electrical problem
1991 Ford F150 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a problem with my 1991 Ford FI50, when I put the cables on the battery the starter turns over without the ignition being turned on to start, and when a set cables are used to boost the truck the engine starts though has an incredible high revving, and will not engage with a normal idle?

As well, when the truck runs normally it drains the battery sometimes in less than an hour and half, and the truck will not start?

For the starter problem check the solinoid next to the battery. Pull that small wire off the top and see if it trys to start with the cables hooked up. It's either gonna be that or the starter itself, outside chance the switch on the column is No good or needs to be adjusted. Not the key but the plastic switch on the column shaft.
