Put a 1987 302 5.0L in a 1987 F150 4wheel drive pickup. There was an 1985 302 5.0L EFI previously in the truck. Motor runs until it warms up. Then it dies. It will start when cools off. Thinking might be fuel issues or vacuum lines might be different between years. Think fuel issues related to vacuum lock in fuel lines.

85 efi? They didnt start that till 87 in the 302 windsor series.

What I would be doing is switching the ignition coil, the plugs, and the wires with new ones or the ones off of the old engine and see how it goes.

Also have the ignition module checked out.

Inside the distributor there is a hall effect sensor, feel it, it should be hard. If it is soft like tar it needs replacement.
