Im thinking about puchasing this truck. The owner said it started but some how the rearend went out and it is not capable without driving until that gets fixed. But it does start up. Im looking for a project truck. For the price he is selling it I think its worth the hassle if I know how much work needs to be done and to prevent this problem from happening again. Along with an estimate of doing the repair myself or professionally, alond with the price of the parts.

Yuo should be able to get a used rearend for $250 to $350. You have to keep in mind, the gear ratio has to be the same to match the front. Having someone change the unit for you could run another $300. Price is aleays dependant on where you have the work done. Small shops usually have a lower labor rate because of overhead. Hope this helps.
