I just bought a truck that hasn't been started in a couple of years. I turned over the engine by hand to make sure it wasn't locked up. When I hooked up a battery(Fully Charged), and turned the key, it did nothing. I replaced the Starter solenoid and the Starter. When I turn the key, The solenoid clicks and I get no response from the starter. Any Ideas?

Could be it Doc that I terminal is the ignition bypass to give the coil full battery voltage on initial start up that it will disappear when the engine fires up. Once you let go the key there's nothing there only when the engine is being cranked. Do you approve

I got my battery tested and it wasn't right so I bought a new one and tightly fastened it to the terminals. Now when I turn my key the engine turnes over but when I let go and/or pull the key out, the engine keeps turning over. I have to take a battery post off to get it to stop. Could this be my Starter or Ingition switch?

Check the starter relay if it does that bang on it the contacts in it could be sticking closed. If okay test the ignition switch.

Try cleaning the ignition switch. Is the solenoid the correct one and a new one? I once used an extra one I had in my garage and when I put it in the truck started turning over with the key off.
