I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Limited AWD automatic with 87,000 miles on it. I parked the truck in a parking lot and now the key is stuck in the ignition, the steering wheel is locked, and the brake is stuck and will not let me press down on it. Ive tried turning the key and the wheel at the same time, which didnt work. I tried pumping the brake but cant even budge it. There has been an issue or 2 where the electrical system had problems and the radio light dims on and off, but other than that, no other problems electrical that I can think of. Any information someone might have would be great.

It sounds like a bad shift lock actuator. It's on the base of the shifter at the column, try getting under there and moving it by hand or pliers. Also before you get too involved look at the fuse for the shift lock.

Will give that a try. A friend of mine said that it could also be the Ignition Switch had shut off and that the truck needs to be taken to the dealer to have them remove the key and reprogram the computer.
