2005 Ford Explorer Steering

When I hit a puddle of water the steering locks.
After idling a short while it is ok.

WHen you say it locks, do you mean you loose power assist?

Yes, no power assist. A mechanic looked at it today and found nothing wrong. There is no indication
that this car ever had a splash guard. I drove the car through puddles of water today and nothing happened.
