Electrical problem
2003 Ford Explorer

my car battery died while driving and would not start after attempting to start the battery was complete dead. It was then jump started and drove to a safe location when it died again. A jump start was applied and the negative cable was disconected while running then died upon this proceedure. A rebuild alternator was installed after the original failed testing. Upon instalation of alt the vehicle was jum started all appeared to start and idle normal as a attemp to drive off it lost power and shut down. The battery was tested which failed and new one installed. The vehicle ran nomal how ever the battery gage signal was low. It was then tested @ autozone where the bat was purchased and I was informes the alt was no good. I took the alt to place of purchase and was informed of same result. A replacement was funished and tested prior to install. The termanells were also replaces and after istallment same results with bat gage reading @ low and while @ idle the neg term was disconected from batt causing it to completly shut down again. Please advie of solution for repair fuse location on pannel or what going on with my car. Thank you

Was the 2nd alt bad when tested after being in the car?

Honestly, chances are it is the brand alt you're getting. You may want to try a new one from a different supplier.
