My girl has a 2003 explorer that is having some fuel system problems. She accidentally put two cycle (premix) gas in her tank and is obviously having some trouble, thanks for any help.

the shop replaced the catalytic converter, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel regulator. After replacing all of this the only problem that remains is at the pump, when pumping gas it will only allow a small amount of gas until the pump shuts off. It takes her about fifteen minutes to fill her tank. I was thinking that it could be a vapor lock, although to my understanding it is when the liquid changes to a gas due to heat from the engine or climate, sometimes altitude, but this doesnt seem to be the cause of the problem. I checked the tank to make sure the shop didnt plug a vapor release anywhere. The only solution that I could come up with is to run a line from the top of the tank and then back into the fuel line below the opening to relieve the gas. If anyone can help or has experience with this please let me know. Thank you.

If the problem is she can't fill the tank without the pump shutting off, there usually is one common problem, the vent tube that runs from the top of the fuel tank along side of the filler tube and then attaches to the filler tube at the top if it. THat is where the air excapes when the tank is filling.

Check that to make sure it isn't kinked (rubber section) or they didn't crush the steel part that attaches back to the filler tube.

Let me know what you find.
