1998 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 183k miles

I have been told I need ball joints in the front end. Is this a dangerous situation?

Depending on how worn the ball joints are, it can be a dangerous situation. A worn ball joint will eventually wear to the opint that it will seperate, and cause loss of steering control.
