How do you tell if the transmission has an overdrive drum speed sensor in it or not? I am looking to buy a transmission because my transmission is going out and I need to know this before I get one. Any help would be great. Thank you.

If the transmission has a large switch with a multi-wire connector on the left side where the shift linkage enters the case, you will also have several other connectors, and an O/D drum speed sensor. If not, it will be the older A4LD transmission, which does not have that sensor.

So you are saying that if I have a bunch of wires rite where the shift linkage is on the transmission, then I have a overdrive drum sensor? I have searched and searched for this sensor on my truck.

Good afternoon,

I attached a picture for you of the available transmissions offered for the year of your truck.

If you have the 5R55, you have that sensor. If you do not have that transmission, then no, you do not have that sensor.
