My suv is leaking coolant front the bottom of the water pump but the engine cools when I keep coolant in the over flow meaning I believe the water pump is working could this be the therma stat and if so is that easy to replace

When a water pump begins to fail it will leak coolant out of its weep holes. This is a sign that the pump is starting to go out, that doesn't necessarily mean the pump is not still working to cool the engine.
