When I start my car I slightly hear it revving. When I look at the RPMs you could barely see it moving up with the revving but it is moving very slightly. When you put the car in drive it bucks a few times and then continues at normal. Also the check engine light is on. My husband is good at working on cars, just not diagnosing problems. Wondering if this is something he can fix. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

IF there is a way for him to have the codes can be retreived it would be helpful.

Things I would check are any cracked vacuum lines, remove the egr valve and check for excessive carbon build up in the valve and the ports to it. N Also check the IAc for the same.

Have any carbon cleaning procedure been performed on this?

Do this and count the flashes...Count the flashes, a 22 will flash as 2 flashes then a short pause, then 2 flashes, if more than one code is stored, the pause will be longer. The codes will display three times and end with 11 or 111. Write them down and post here. First do this with the ke on engine off, then again with it running.
