Transmission problem
1991 Ford Explorer Four Wheel Drive Automatic

How much does it cost to have a the transmission replaced and is it worth it? I do not have access to the car at the moment so I do not know the mileage, yet it's high 265,000?

On an average, a transmission replacement is around 2500 dollars. I don't know the condition of the vehicle, but that is a lot of miles. It really is up to you if you feel it is worth putting that kind of money into it. I always look at it like this. IF the car is in good shape and doesn't need anything other than a trans, what can you get for that amount. Most likely not too much.
