Noises problem
2005 Ford Expedition V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 78.000 miles

I get a whistling noise coming from under the hood. It is there when I hit the gas pedal and it gets louder as speed increases. When idle, though, I don't hear it. It follows the acceleration of the vehicle. I was told it might be the alternator. Any ideas?

Chances are it is one of te belt driven accessories. THe honly thing you can do is remove the belt start the engine, and see if it stopped.

I forgot to add:

NOTE: Only run the engine for a few seconds without the belt. It will overheat and cause additional damage to the engine.
