1997 Ford Expedition Four Wheel Drive Automatic 100, 00 miles

My wife accidentily drove my expedition in 4wd and now it wont get out of 4wd. The dashboard keeps saying 4X4 Low Range. How do I get it back to regular. What steps can I take to do this? Is their something other than turning the switch that I am supposed to do to change this?

There isn't anything other than the switch. It sounds like the actuator is stuck or bad. Are you getting power to the actuator on the transfercase?

Yes I am getting power. I turned the switch and it wont work. But every now and then when I turn the car on it is back to normal. But it seems to be stuck in 4X4 mode. What other steps should I take to fix this problem?

If you are geting power to the actuator, then you need to remove it and have it checked. Chances are it is going bad.
