I need a left outer tie rod. How easy is this to repair myself? What should it cost to have it repaired at a shop and what kind of shop would be best suited to do this?

Outers aren't that hard to replace, you'll probably need some sort of pickle fork to bust it apart, most parts stores rent for a nominal fee or free with cc. Not sure of labor costs, an outer tierod probably costs between 15-45 dollars depending on what brand. Any locally-owned reliable auto repair place can do it, stay away from the lifetime guarantee deal some offer, you'll pay way too much
